Farmer, real estate, husband, father, podcaster - John Moore
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
Saying John Moore does a lot is an understatement. Most of the time being a farmer on its own will fill up your day. John stays extremely fit while not only farming but also does some agriculture real estate brokering, current President of the Kern County Farm Bureau, podcasts, and has a beautiful young family. When we started communicating through Instagram about issues in agriculture and his experience in Tough Mudder, I knew I had to have him on. Listen in to hear how he pulls it all off.

75 Hard Challenge completed - Blake Lee
Wednesday Jul 28, 2021
Wednesday Jul 28, 2021
Blake decided he wanted to make a change in his life. He wanted to live a healthier life so he could be around for his family. I work with Blake on our Razzle Dazzle grape program and I know the demands his job puts on him and the long hours he puts in at the office. Finding time to workout with his job and a family is not easy. One of the ways he decided to get jumpstarted was to do the 75 Hard Challenge. He is one of the few people I know that has actually completed it once he started. The 75 Hard Challenge is two 45 minute workouts per day, one must be outside, drink a gallon of water per day, pick a diet and stick with it, no cheat meals, no alcohol, read 10 pages a day of a self help/improvement per day, and take a progress picture per day. Blake explains what it was like to go through it all, what he liked and what he didn't like. The best part is hearing him talk about how he plans to continue his healthy lifestyle and no longer needs a "challenge" to motivate him.

Search and Recovery Diver - Kevin Kemmerling of Black Mask Divers
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
Wednesday Jul 21, 2021
The official description of what Kevin does is called Public Safety Diving but that does not come close to describing what he and thousands of others do for us. Let's be real, he goes out and does dangerous sh*% and gets us out of trouble when he can. Kevin is a search, recovery and when we are lucky a rescue diver! It is easy to gloss over what he does, he recovers/rescues people right? These men and women do a hell of lot more than that, they put it on the line to come get us out of dangerous waters. How he got into this line of work was so interesting to hear about and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Follow him @blackmaskdivers on Instagram.

Ironman triathlon gets real! Nicole Giumarra talks Ironman Coeur d'alene
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Wednesday Jul 14, 2021
Racing an Ironman is always tough but add 30 degrees to the normal high and it can make it impossible. As I kept seeing her post about her training and running into her at the pool a few times I was excited to interview Nicole after Ironman Coeur d'alene because I wanted to hear about all the ups and downs mentally and physically of the day. It's always exciting to hear how a competitor felt when they finish a race. However, the interview is quite different because it is her first ever DNF. It was an unbearable day with 130+ degrees coming off the pavement during the ride and her body told her she had enough. Nearly 30% of the field didn't finish! As bad as I feel for her I am so happy she came on because there was so much to share about her day on the course. Believe me, Nicole is not done with Ironman yet!

From a full time sales position to full time fitness coach - Tyson Derksen
Tuesday Jun 29, 2021
Tuesday Jun 29, 2021
Tyson was in produce sales for years and just really felt unfulfilled. Eventually he brought himself to explore the fitness world exactly how he wanted to and that involved leaving his good paying sales position. His positive attitude and desire to help women reach their fitness goals is so refreshing. This episode is the first one I have done by zoom and that is because Tyson has been in Costa Rica for over a month and it was the only way it was going to happen. He coaches so many women on their fitness journey and really preaches the balanced approach to losing fat and getting fit. His Fit for Life weight loss program is worth paying attention to. Check him out on Instagram @tyson_derksen.

My Take - Starting your fitness journey
Wednesday Jun 23, 2021
Wednesday Jun 23, 2021
Whether you are a beginner and just starting your fitness journey or you are coming off of a long layoff from working out. It is easy for us to compare ourselves to others and put unfair expectations upon ourselves. Each person is at a different point with their fitness program and although it is great to have goals of where you want to be it is important to remember where you are and stick with your plan and not someone else's. Stay consistent, celebrate the little successes and the big results will come.

Craig lost 110 lbs!
Wednesday Jun 16, 2021
Wednesday Jun 16, 2021
Craig Harrison lost 110 lbs and did it the right way. He found a healthy balance between food, physical activity and mental happiness. As a former Catholic priest his life was beyond busy and it became easy to let the pounds accumulate while dealing with all the responsibilities of that life. Craig talks about the importance of sleep. He rises every morning around 3:30, but now he gets up at that time because he wants to not because of a mix of poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, and mental burdens. He is honest about his dislike of working out and how important it is to him to have friends encourage him to get to the gym. Craig continues to help so many throughout our community and the world through his non profit Reflections For Women. I was really looking forward to sitting down with Craig and I am sure you will enjoy this episode.

Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
Wednesday Jun 02, 2021
How did Grant get started in Crossfit and what did he like and not like about it? He has covered a lot of ground in the workout world and gives great insight about his transitions through different programs. Just recently becoming a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu is just one of his accomplishments. Not to mention he is a very good golfer. How does this cherry farmer get it all done?
